We are sorry to announce the passing of Penny Reeves, a member of the Servus Credit Union Board of Directors, on May 22, 2017.
Penny was first elected to the board of Capital City Savings in 2000 and has served on our board since. She shared her considerable experience and provided leadership to credit union and cooperative boards at local, provincial, national and international levels.
Penny represented Servus on the board of Alberta Central from 2001 to 2010, serving as secretary and chair. She represented Alberta Central on the Credit Union Central of Canada board from 2005 to 2011. The Credit Union Central of Canada board elected Penny as one of its representatives on the board of the World Council of Credit Unions from 2006 to 2011. She was elected to the board of the Canadian Co-operative Association and the Canadian Co-operative Foundation of Canada from 2002 to 2005.
Penny was an alderman on St. Albert City Council for nine years and chair of the Employment Insurance Board of Referees Edmonton Region for five years. Penny and her husband, Bob, have lived in St. Albert since 1973 and raised their two children there. Penny co-founded and operated a small business in St. Albert for nine years. Recently, she received the St. Albert Small Business Owner of the Year Award and the St. Albert Rotary Integrity Award.
