Helping young people achieve

Gary Blair
Branch Manager, Southgate
Edmonton

Gary Blair has been working in financial services for 30 years. That’s a lot of knowledge about money management – knowledge that he shares with students when he volunteers his time with Junior Achievement.

Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization that works with schools to give young people the financial literacy skills they need to prepare for success in their lives. Gary delivers the Dollars with Sense program to junior high school students. It teaches them personal money management skills and strategies to use the concepts they learn in their own lives.

“I consider it my responsibility to share my knowledge if it will benefit others. Teaching the next generation about money management will benefit our communities as a whole,” says Gary. “I have a very demanding job, but I’m glad Servus makes it possible for me to spend time in the schools.”

Gary’s dedication to Junior Achievement earned him the Chairman's Award for outstanding volunteer achievement during the 2008-2009 school year. He continues to volunteer regularly, in addition to the time he spends helping out with his daughters’ activities.
