STRATEGIC ROLE

The Senior Sales Associate is a member of a dynamic wealth team led by the IA/Planner and plays an integral role in the delivery of superior personalized service to our high net worth member owners. The primary responsibility of the role is to assist the IA/Planner(s) with their day to day administration, sales and service in an efficient and effective manner thereby allowing the IA/ Planner vital contact time with members. You ensure that the proper documentation has been completed correctly, processing its delivery in a timely manner with the appropriate follow up. You will assist in the completion of financial plans, annual reviews and identify additional opportunities to refer business back to the retail, business banking and other areas of Servus. The Senior Sales Associate is licensed and maintains a high level of knowledge relating to our products and services, sales processes and compliance and is able to execute trades. As an assistant you strive for excellence in communication and organization as you play a vital role in enhancing the member experience, and the growth and profitability of our credit union.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Member Focus (Adherence to our “Member’s First” Standards)

  • Assist the IA/Planner by supporting the delivery of the full financial planning experience to high net worth ($150,000+) members using the CFP’s six steps of financial planning through an understanding of processes, systems and documentation required. Accurate, timely completion of required documentation including account opening, transfers, trades, tracking and other paper work with appropriate follow up as necessary.
  • Service Excellence – respond to all members, team and partner enquiries promptly and proactively providing professional, friendly, competent and courteous service at all times. The licensed Senior Sales Associate is able to execute trades in line with risk objectives for members.
  • Respond to member complaints within assigned limits, with follow up on issues/opportunities as required, ensuring member complaints are handled in accordance with our service standards, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Within 48 hours – input, complete pre-discovery and provide update on referrals ensuring member appointments are set for IA/Planner. Set up appointments for IA/Planner for client meetings, call to confirm next day’s appointments.
  • Seminar, member appreciation events – assist with the coordination (venue, guest speakers) and proactively invite and follow up to confirm attendees, guest speakers, etc.
  • Maintain up to date Financial Planning and investment industry knowledge by participating in training programs/industry courses to upgrade skills, obtain and maintain accreditation and licensing requirements as applicable
  • Ensure marketing materials are displayed in accordance with corporate guidelines, and that every effort is made to ensure the branch conforms to our brand standards.
  • Maintain professional appearance, professional conduct and an organized workspace, safe and secure environment ensuring files are current, documentation complete and filing is up to date.
  • Acquire full knowledge of our Mission, Vision and the supporting statements and then demonstrate Servus Credit Union core values in all actions.
  • Knowledge of the organization and the Credit Union system

Financial Results

Assist the IA/Planner to achieve or exceed assigned sales and referral goals in the following areas;

  • Growth of the book of business
  • Revenue
  • Asset Gathering
  • Sales/renewals of solutions to meet member needs, including Servus Term Deposits
  • Life Insurance
  • Member segmentation
  • Referrals to internal partners – retail, business banking and other channels as appropriate
  • Tracking & Reporting of Referrals Received/Sent
  • Enthusiastically participate in, and assist in the creation and execution of corporate and branch campaigns, and marketing/business development plans.
  • Be aware and communicate sales opportunities to the IA/Planner
  • Monitor expenses, and productivity; and take make recommendations or take necessary action as required to maintain efficiencies including the development, monitoring and tracking of sales activities.

Working in Teams

  • Provide support to IA/Planner(s), team members, Senior Manager WM, retail employees and partners
  • Actively participate in wealth/work unit and credit union meetings
  • Contribute positively by fostering good morale and a cohesive working environment that is fun, positive and productive
  • Maintain a responsive and respectful relationship with support departments.

  • Work collaboratively to accomplish common goals

Risk Management

  • Ensure all corporate policies, procedures and guidelines are adhered to including compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements to mitigate the risk of loss to the Credit Union and members (i.e. Compliance, money laundering, privacy, etc)
  • Mitigate risk of loss by maintaining timely, effective controls and follow up
  • Ensure necessary due diligence is taken to support the accuracy of all member transactions
  • Make recommendations to take necessary action on issues or concerns arising from daily trade reviews and audits.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the wealth industry including securities and compliance
  • knowledge of financial planning, products, policies, procedures, and operations
  • Solid administration, sales support and organizational skills
  • Proven performance

Education / Training:

  • High School Diploma
  • Finance related post secondary is an asset
  • Thorough understanding of financial products and services
  • Securities industry training

Licences / Certificates:

  • Investment Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course & CPH
  • MFDA or IIROC license
