2018 Board Elections

Board elections happen every year but this year things are a bit different:

  1. Members are voting to fill 5 vacancies on the board instead of 4. One of our directors, Penny Reeves, passed away in 2017. Her passing leaves a 5th vacancy to be filled through this election. The director who receives the 5th highest number of votes will serve the remaining 2 years of the original term, which expires in 2020.

  2. Successful candidates will serve terms that are 3 or 4 years long. New bylaws passed at the 2017 annual general meeting that increase directors' terms from 3 to 4 years. To make this change, directors voted on to the board in 2018, 2019 and 2020 will serve terms of varying lengths, depending on the number of votes they get relative to other candidates.

  3. This year, the candidate who receives the 4th highest number of votes will serve a three-year term, expiring in 2021. Candidates who receive the 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest number of votes will each serve 4-year terms that will expire in 2022.

For all the details refer to sections 5.11 and 5.50 of Servus's bylaws.

Results of the 2018 Board of Directors elections will be announced at our annual general meeting on Wednesday, March 7.
